The Department of the Trans-Mississippi was organized on May 26, 1862 and consisted primarily of the three Confederate States west of the Mississippi River (Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas), the contested State of Missouri, and two Confederate territories - the Indian Territory and Confederate Arizona. The Army of the Trans-Mississippi was commanded by General E. Kirby Smith and its battle flag copied the design of the Army of Tennessee's battle flag, but with the colors reversed. This flag is made of 100% printed 3'x5' 68-D nylon. Includes brass grommets with extra stitching on the fly-end for added durability.
